iPhone Apps Finder reviews My Vacation

iPhone Apps Finder have reviewed My Vacation and given it a decent 4 star rating.

The best part about taking pictures and videos and organizing your vacation files is sharing them with others and having a way to remember your fond memories from your trips. With My Vacation, you can do it all on your iPhone. It’ d be nice if the app supported more social networks, and I would like the app to become even more video friendly. Regardless, it’s a solid app all around.

iPhone 4.0 and My Vacation

On Thursday Apple announced a new OS for iPhone, due for the Summer.  I was impressed by the new features and now putting my mind to the opportunities these will offer to My Vacation.  Let's go through some of them:

Camera

• 5x zoom
• Tap to focus on video
• Video thumbnails with a snapshot from the video - to replace the video icon you currently see.

Multitasking

• You will be able to switch to and from My Vacation much more quickly.
• Background tasks - you should be able to start a Facebook or Flickr upload and leave the app to let it run in the background (on 3GS).

Location

• Geotagged photos.  My Vacation already offers this although when saving photos to your Photo Album it will be good to keep location data tagged to those.
• Background location.  A new low powered GPS based on cell tower signals will mean My Vacation may be able to include path tracking during the day.  Using full GPS would drain battery to much I think.
• Draggable map pins

Journal Entry

• Spell checking for those who those of your who are particulur about yer spelling ;)
• Wireless bluetooth keyboard support.  This will be a good match for My Vacation.  You could pack a keyboard in your luggage and use it in the hotel at the end of the day to type in your journal.

Calendar

• In the new OS My Vacation could add entries to your Calendar.  I think this would be a nice option to have next to the Title fields on the vacation summary and day summary pages.

My Vacation - #2 in iPhone Travel!

On the back of everythingiCafe's review of My Vacation the app has shot up the charts!  It has reached number 2 in the travel charts and top 500 overall in the US.  

Update:  My Vacation was in the New and Noteworthy section for several countries including in the US store!

It has reached top 10 for travel in following countries:

• US (#2)
• Canada (#5)
• South Africa (#1)
• Brasil (#1)
• Mexico (#9)
• Qatar (#2)

Overall it reached Top 100 in Brasil, South Africa & Qatar, Top 500 in US, Canada and Korea
